Marion, played by Deneuve, hides her Jewish husband, Lucas Steiner (Heinz Bennent), in the basement of a Parisian theater during the Nazi Occupation of France. It is a historical drama set in Paris during the Second World War. Released in 1980, The Last Metro stars Catherine Deneuve and Gérard Depardieu. Images are by the legendary French New Wave cinematographer Raoul Coutard. Adapted from a novel by David Goodis -Down There published in 1956 -Shoot the Piano Player is a playful homage to the American gangster films of the 1950s. His past, however, catches up with him once his brother, fleeing from two gangsters, comes to him for help. The film stars the great French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour who plays Charlie Kohler, the timid piano player in a bar trying to forget his prestigious past as a virtuoso concert pianist known then as Edouard Saroyan. My personal favorite out of the 12 films now available on Netflix is Shoot the Piano Player, released one year after the success of The 400 Blows in 1960. Stolen Kisses, Bed and Board, and Love on the Run are all sequels in a sense to The 400 Blows, and are all available on Netflix (apart from Antoine et Colette which was the first Truffaut made that continued Doisnel’s story it is, however, part of the 1962 anthology Love at Twenty).

The film stands on its own, but you may wish to know how Antoine Doisnel fares later in life. It is a representation of childhood that still feels relevant today. Semi-autobiographical, the film follows a young teenager Antoine Doisnel, played by Jean-Pierre Léaud, growing up in Paris, who struggles at home with his mother and step-father, and with his teachers at school. The film has jumped to the top of Netflix's Top 10 charter across countries worldwide a day after its release on the platform.Truffaut’s debut film The 400 Blows was critically acclaimed upon its release in 1959 and is still celebrated today as a classic masterpiece.

The Adam Project is an entertaining movie to watch with the whole family, and has the potential to become Netflix's next big hit. But, what is the point of time travel if one of its fundamental rules comes to be that the future must not be altered? Why travel back in time if you cannot save a loved one from death? The Adam Project's climactic conclusion would suggest that there is no point to time travel at all, other than to reflect on the past of one's life. This is the rule established by films such Back to the Future about time travel. Many times throughout the film the precept that the historic timeline should not be altered is reiterated. The annoying younger Adam suddenly becomes wiser and more understanding than his older self. Roles seem to reverse when the two Adams finally meet with Louis. Mark Ruffalo's presence adds another layer to the duo.

There is a sense that both young Adam and older Adam need each other to grieve the death of their father, Louis. There is a great chemistry between the two actors. Reynolds and Scobell form a great duo, pulling at each other's strings with sarcastic side remarks. One of the greatest things about this movie is the interaction between Adam and his younger self.
